Locksmith’s business officially opened by Peacehaven mayor

The Mayor of Peacehaven Rachael Coles officially opened a new locksmithing business in the town on Friday January 24.

Locksmith Nick Prout identified the need for the shop in Peacehaven and will be running the premises with his son Jack Prout and cousin Lewis Prout.

They specialise in non destructive entry methods which means locks will not usually need to be replaced.

The business at 131a South Coast Road has a range of security items and key cutting equipment, also covering upvc doors, window hinges and locks.

They also have a van for mobile vehicle locksmithing.

In fact Nick says he can make a key for a standard Ford car, program it and get it started in eight minutes.

The job also means you get to be a knight in shining armour, quite often when people are in trouble, because they have lost the keys to their home or locks have been changed after a break up.

Nick, who has ten years of experience in locksmithing, said: “We asked the mayor to come and open the business for us and she was more than happy to come and open it for us. I’m a local lad. I have lived along the South Coast all my life. I was born in Brighton but I have been trading in Newhaven, Peacehaven and Brighton for nearly a decade as a mobile locksmith.”
