Lewes had an unsual visitor on Tuesday morning when a seal made its way up the River Ouse.

It was photographed by reader Vic Ient just south of Cliffe Bridge.

Sussex Wildlife Trust said this is the peak time of year for spotting common seals gliding up our tidal rivers in pursuit of fish. They can live happily in tidal rivers for a week at a time before heading back to sea.
