A unique and one-off event will be hosted by St Peter’s Church, Chailey Green, on Saturday, March 15.
It’s a Magic Lantern Show, with an original projector, features slides of Lewes and the surrounding villages taken between the 1890s and 1920s.
The pictures will be of interest to anyone with a love of local history or photography, and many images will never have been seen before by those attending.
The event starts at 7pm with a welcoming drink and nibbles and the show starts at 7.30pm.
Visitors will be sitting in a 13th century church on 19th century pews which will add to the charm and authenticity of a Victorian-style evening of entertainment.
There will be a break during the performance, when further refreshments will be on sale. Profits will go towards the £200,000 fund to modernise historic St Peter’s.
Tickets for this special event are limited and priced at £8. They can be obtained from St Peter’s Church Office, The Rectory, Chailey Green, Lewes BN8 4DA – please enclose a SAE. Alternatively, email firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve your ticket and pay on the night.
For many it will be the first time they have seen an authentic Magic Lantern in action.
