A car driver is still seriously ill in hospital after his car was in collision with a bus at Mark Cross yesterday (Monday February 3).

The Renault Clio, driven by the 38-year old Wadhurst man, was in collision with a Stagecoach bus on the A267 at Mark Cross, just west of the junction with the B2100, at 7.10am.

The car driver was taken by air ambulance to Kings College Hospital in South London with head and chest injuries and his condition is currently assessed as critical but stable.

Five passengers on the bus were slightly hurt and received treatment at the scene.

The bus driver was very shaken but was unhurt, and a sixth passenger was taken to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

PC Kelly Newton, of the Sussex Road Policing Unit, said; “Anyone who saw what happened is asked to contact Sussex Police on 101 or email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting Operation Mangrove.

“The A267 was closed for five hours and drivers are thanked for their patience and their understanding of the inevitable diversions and delays.”
