Volunteers are needed to take part in a visual performance in Alexandra Park for the upcoming Coastal Currents festival.
Organisers are aiming to recruit approximately 15 men, aged 18 and above for Melt Down, an act being staged by the Rosemary Lee Company in the park on Sunday, September 7.
The all-male performance will last 20 minutes. With a single toll of a bell marking each minute, the men sink slowly and almost imperceptibly to the ground.
Melt Down requires no dance nor performance training but does require a level of physical control and concentration.
A core group of men from London, who have performed the piece before, will form part of the performance for Hastings. Participants will be asked to perform a simple, intense, slow motion action in unison. To see a video of a previous performance, go to alexreuben.com/home/newsreel-two. A taster workshop will be held tomorrow (Saturday) from noon to 3pm at St Matthew’s Church Hall, St Matthew’s Road, St Leonards. Participants will need to commit to several group rehearsals (evenings and one weekend) between August 28 and September 6.
