Fatima, 52, went missing from her home in Park Drive Close on Friday (February 12) leaving her handbag and other personal items behind.

The initial appeal resulted in a sighting of her being reported in Avis Road around 8am on Friday, but she has not been seen since. The caller reported that she was wearing a beige coat and her family has confirmed that a coat of this description is missing from their home.

Chief Inspector Rob Leet, district policing commander, said: “Fatima has now been missing for three days and the circumstances of her disappearance are causing us considerable concern.

“She has never gone missing before and left home without a bag, money, keys or it seems, any other personal items.

“During the early hours of Saturday morning, volunteers from Sussex Search and Rescue (SusSAR) and Lowland Search Dogs worked in and around the town and up the River Ouse to Southease.

“During the day on Saturday, a police helicopter searched the coast to the east and west of the town and up the river to Lewes.

“This is completely out of character for Fatima, who is Indian, 5’ 2”, of slim build with shoulder-length black hair worn in a ponytail. She is likely to be wearing traditional Indian dress under the beige coat.

“If you have seen her at any time since Friday morning, please let us know immediately by calling 101 quoting serial 946 of 12/02. If you see her, please dial 999 immediately.”
