Uckfield Lions enjoyed one of their busiest community weekends of the year.
As well as their High Street diabetes check programme on Saturday, they turned out in force to host the Lions Big Fun Day on Sunday.
Mayor Cllr Ian Smith, who officially opened the event on Luxford Field, said: “There was a really big turnout on a lovely sunny afternoon.”
Visitors enjoyed arena events, refreshments, Lions’ hot dogs and beefburgers, a host of children’s activities, stalls from lots of organisations and a busy car boot sale.
All profits from Lions’ events are put back into the community where they go to fund local good causes. Many town groups have received donations from the Lions in the past.
There was dancing and singing in the main arena with performers Universal Dance, Jimmy the Juggler, who also rode a unicycle, and In-Choir entertaining the crowd all afternoon.
Visitors were encouraged to take part in a fitness demonstration and most took to the turf to shake a leg.
Ian Ritchie and his crew from Uckfield Fire Station demonstrated equipment and skills throughout the day and talented Framfield mouth painter Barry West signed autographs.
Everyone who attended said this was the best fun day they had enjoyed. The weather helped but so did the wide range of activities and fun things to do.
