Chief Inspector Rob Leet has taken up the role of the new district commander for Lewes.
The district covers the towns of Lewes, Newhaven, Seaford, Peacehaven, Telscombe, Saltdean, and all the surrounding wards and villages.
He moves to Lewes district after spending 17 years working in a variety of roles on Brighton & Hove Division, including neighbourhood policing, the Response Investigation Team (RIT) and, most recently, in a strategic support role.
He said: “I have had a hugely enjoyable career so far, and I am really looking forward to the challenge of taking on the district commander role.
“In my experience, the biggest challenges are overcome through strong partnership working and actively engaging with members of the varied and diverse communities of Sussex.
“Engagement and partnership working will be the foundation of my work on the district. I have inherited a great team of officers who are enthusiastic and passionate about serving the public and this is a really exciting opportunity to work with them and build on the tremendous work they do.”
