Outgoing Hailsham Lions’ president John Ward has presented the chain of office to incoming president Gerry Constable, who will serve in the position for one year.
As one of his last duties, John presented three annual awards to members of the Lions Club.
The first was presented to Chris Millen for his hard work and organisational skills as quartermaster.
The second to Frances Baker for organising the 2013 It’s A Special Knockout. The third award, a wooden spoon went to Ken Gray.
A spokeswoman for the Lions’ said President Gerry intends to continue upholding the Lions’ motto – ordinary people, amazing things – during the next 12 months, with the help of her vice-president Keith Shonfeld MBE. Plans are already progressing for the continuance of fund raising activities, including a huge presence over the Christmas period, and another Country Fayre in June 2015.
The spokeswoman said with the help of all the Lions Club members, Gerry looks forward to raising money, not only for international disasters, but for local good causes and individuals.
Hailsham Lions are always looking to expand their membership and anyone interested in learning more should contact them via their Facebook Page, www.hailshamlions.co.uk or emailing to email@example.com.
