CHANGES are due at Wealden District Council during the next few weeks as part of the process to create a single site headquarters in Hailsham next year, 2012.
The council’s housing and finance teams will be moving out of Hailsham to temporary offices in Eastbourne. The Public Health and Customer Services teams will leave later in May, so that changes can be made to the Vicarage Lane office building.
Charles Lant, chief executive, said: “To minimise the disruption to our customers we’ll be moving over the next two weekends.
“We will be open to the public for our normal hours but would ask our customers to be patient if it takes us a little longer to respond than usual, particularly on 13 and 16 May.”
From May 25, visitors in Hailsham will be redirected to Wealden’s Customer Help Point at Prospects House 7-9 George Street, Hailsham. Opening hours will remain the same - 8.30am to 5pm from Monday to Friday.
There will be no change for visitors to Crowborough and the same opening times will operate at our Pine Grove office.
Mr Lant added: “All our telephone calls to the switchboard are now handled by our customer services team and we’re taking the opportunity to collect information from callers which will help us provide a more effective service in future.
“There’s a wealth of information available on our website - www.wealden.gov.uk - which in many cases can save travelling to either of the offices.”
The council’s public health team will be temporarily relocating at Pine Grove, Crowborough. Its customers services will be temporarily moving to Prospects House, George Street, Hailsham.
