Ever wondered what happens to recycling after it has been collected from your home?
A new video on Wealden’s website shows how paper, plastics, cans, tinfoil and glass are separated and processed at the materials reclamation facility to be reconstituted as paper, plastics, cans and glass. The video shows separation taking place at the IDEAL recycling facility in Kent and was commissioned by the Joint Waste Partnership.
The materials it recovers are then used to make a wide range of paper, glass, metal and plastic products ranging from newspapers to fleece clothing and street signs.
Parts of a new car, including body, engine block, plastic fittings and seats, now contain a proportion of recycled material. See the video on the Understanding Your Recycling page on the Recycling and Waste section of the Wealden website .
