Police are appealing for information after a very popular play area for families and children was vandalised overnight in Peacehaven.
The children’s play area in the Dell Recreation Ground on the A259 was vandalised with swings broken and other play equipment damaged overnight between Thursday August 14 and Friday August 15.
Peacehaven Town Council said the water drinking fountain pipes were cut, flooding the sand pit and damaging other surfaces in the play area.
Post and rope fencing had been pulled out of the ground and the zip wire broken.
The incident took place just a few weeks after further damage to play equipment at Epinay Park in the north of Peacehaven.
Peacehaven Town Council clerk Kevin Kingston said: “It is such a shame that a few very irresponsible individuals can go out of their way to damage equipment in such a popular play park which I’m sure other friends and families of the vandals have or do use on a regular basis.”
Sussex Police received a report on Friday (August 15) that damaged had been caused at The Dell Recreation Ground.
The vandalism was carried out between 9pm on Thursday and 8am on Friday morning.
