Plenty on offer for children and adults at historic Polegate windmill

Several events are coming up at Willingdon/Polegate windmill this month.

On Wednesday (August 6) there will be Historical Cooking sessions. Two sessions will run from 11am until 1pm or 2.30pm until 4.30pm. Price is £3 per child and £1 per adult. Organiser Patricia Stevens will show children where food comes from and cook using a clay oven as well as an open fire. For more details call 01323 734496. On August 13, Art for All will take place from 2pm until 5pm. Price is £1 per adult and £1 per child. Art materials are supplied. Resident artist Peter Martin will explain about perspective and observation so budding artists have a firm grounding to draw a picture to remind them of their time at the mill. For more details call 01323 731514. A new way to learn about the windmill will take place on August 20. There will be quizzes, puzzles, crosswords and observation of the interior and exterior of the mill and the milling museum. The event runs from 2pm until 5pm. The price is £1 per child. A spokesman for the windmill said: “Wednesdays in August at Willingdon/Polegate windmill is always very special. Remember to book in advance with the event organiser. All session include a guided tour of the mill in with the price.”
