Police appeal after man bitten by dog and punched in the head in Peacehaven

A man was punched in the head by an attacker and bitten by his assailant’s dog in Peacehaven the early hours of Saturday morning (April 5).

The victim was walking along Telscombe Cliffs Way with a friend at around 2.50am when they were approached near Kirby Drive by two men with a dog.

The animal was described as a brown Staffie-type with white patches on its chest.

One of the men started to verbally abuse the victim, a 25-year-old local man, and then started to punch his head.

The dog was running loose and bit the victim’s leg causing severe cuts that needed stitches at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.

The attacker was described as white, aged 27-29, 6ft, of skinny build with short black hair and wearing black T-shirt and jeans.
