Quite a gathering on the sun-dappled lawns: The Plumpton College student awards ceremony 2014

Nearly 2,000 students, parents and friends gathered for the annual awards ceremony at Plumpton College.

It marked the end of another successful academic year at the popular venue.

Principal Des Lambert said the day celebrated and recognised the achievement of more than 700 students who had completed courses.

The ceremony was an important occasion for graduating students, he said, becausefor many it marked the end of their time in education.

Guest of honour was the new Bishop of Lewes, the Rt Rev Richard Jackson, who offered his congratulations.

Mr Lambert said Plumpton College encouraged students to participate in educational visits, shows and events both in the UK and overseas.

Its young people had been successful in a variety of exhibitions and competitions including with livestock, forestry and arboriculture, fishery management, wine, game management, garden design and floristry.

In addition to their academic studies, students had organised horse shows and been involved in the annual Open Day at Plumpton which this year attracted some 9,000 visitors.

Staff and management were thanked for their dedication. The students’ conclusion was Plumpton College was a “brilliant” place to study and each would take away cherished memories and a real sense of pride.
