There was a record number of entries to Buxted’s Annual Art Exhibition on Friday (April 11) and Saturday (April 12).
The organisers also saw an an increase in visitor numbers.
Visitors enjoyed the eclectic mix of styles and subjects and met with friends over a glass of wine or cup of tea, which was included in the £1 entrance fee.
The Art Club now has a waiting list for membership.
The situation highlights the need for a new community hall in the village to accommodate the expanding population in the parish and to meet the social and cultural needs of theresidents.
An application for a new hall has been submitted to planning bosses.
The Buxted Art Club has been awarded a grant under the Wealden Community Small Grant Scheme to help purchase new display screens. Organisers say this will give more flexibility in how the work is displayed ensuring new and exciting exhibitions in the future.
