Ten people with learning disabilities will be welcomed into a new supported living service in Polegate on Monday (September 1).

Southdown Housing Association support workers will provide 24 hour care and support to enable those moving in to live independently.

The purpose-built facility has ten separate and fully contained one bedroom apartments with a kitchen, lounge and bathroom. Residents also have access to shared living spaces, a large lounge and fully equipped modern kitchen and a garden. The supported living service was commissioned by East Sussex County Council.

Southdown’s Helen Lacy, manager of the service, said: “Through close working with all involved - individuals moving into the service, their families, other care providers and the county council – we’re ensured continuity of care and support. We’ve hosted social evenings to support everybody to get to know one another. It’s been lovely to see the camaraderie and relationships forming between the people moving in and their support workers.” Visit www.southdownhousing.org.
