Police are appealing for information about a road rage incident in Newhaven in which a driver threw a can at another man’s car.

The victim was in queueing traffic travelling west along Drove Road towards the roundabout junction with New Road in his white Peugeot 208 when a man in a white Audi A3 began honking his horn at him.

The Audi driver then hurled an aerosol can from his car that damaged the boot of the Peugeot.

The 29-year-old victim, from Seaford, went to speak to the Audi driver but was verbally abused. The victim then drove away and called the police.

The incident happened at about 11.10am on Tuesday (5 August).

PC James Bunkin said: “The victim suffered unprovoked abuse and had his damaged vehicle because of what appears to be the other driver’s impatience.

“I would like to speak to anyone who saw the incident happen or who may have experienced similar incidents with the Audi driver.

“If you have any information at all, please contact us.”

Anyone with information should email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting serial 590 of 05/08, call 101 or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
