Roads flooded and trees down in East Sussex after storm

East Sussex County Council’s highways team dealt with 12 fallen trees and 20 flooded roads today (Thursday December 19) after the storm last night.

Gusts along the coast in East Sussex reached 65mph and there was also heavy rain.

Head of highways Roger Williams said: “We were monitoring the weather forecast throughout the day and were prepared for possible storm damage overnight.

“There may still be some fallen trees and flooded roads in East Sussex which we will deal with as quickly as possible. In the meantime we would urge drivers to take care and avoid taking unnecessary risks.”

Flooding and obstructed roads can be reported at www.eastsussex.gov.uk, by calling 0345 60 80 193, tweeting us @esccroads or sending a message to our Facebook page EastSussexHighways
