An art sale raised thousands of pounds for medical aid for Palestinians caught up in the current conflict in Gaza.
On Sunday (August 3) at the White Rock Hotel, Hastings Palestine Solidarity Campaign (HPSC) organised a sale of local art work by artists for the injured victims in Gaza, raising more than £4,000.
Around 100 artists responded to the call for donations and the event was supported by Hastings Arts Forum and SoCo.
The money raised will go to MAP UK - Medical Aid for Palestine - to help with its humanitarian work in Gaza in alleviating the suffering.
Gill Knight, from HPSC, said: “The human cost is a tragedy. Homes, schools, and hospitals have been destroyed with more than 1,800 killed, including 520,000 people displaced.
“Doctors and medical staff are struggling to treat the thousands injured and the UN has warned about a widespread, unfolding medical disaster. We believe that only a political solution can bring justice for Palestine but also want to help those civilians injured now.” The remaining works of art will be on sale at the next HPSC event at the White Rock Hotel on September 4.
