Seaford mayor Mark Brown hands over the cash to Seaford Bonfire Society

Voluntary groups have benefited from a £10,000 cash boost thanks to Seaford Town Council.

The council released a total of £5,125 of small grants under £500 and £6,250 of large grants of more than £500.

Seaford Bonfire Society was given £1,000 towards staging Bonfire, Seaford Musical Theatre & SMTJ was awarded £500 for stage equipment and Seaford Rugby Football Club received £1,500 for changing rooms and showers.

Seaford Community Partnership benefited from £500 towards advertising the Heritage Trail and Seaford Bay Exercise Path, while Seaford Lifeguards received £1,500 towards video equipment for safety training, both in house and for the community.

Mayor Mark Brown said: “Seaford Town Council always looks to support those groups in the town who make the Town what it is, we have managed to achieve this and congratulate all those groups awarded funding.”

The grants process for 2015/16 will start in February 2015 and application forms will be available for both small and large grants from Seaford Town Council upon request.
