The search is on for Wealden’s most sustainable business.
Wealden District Council has teamed up with the Sussex Business Awards to recognise the businesses which value the environment in the Wealden area.
The judges will be looking for outstanding achievement by businesses which place the protection or enhancement of the environment at the core of its activities.
The winning company will be chosen if its products or practices have resulted in significant beneficial environmental impact.
The category, which is only open for businesses in Wealden, is one of many in the Sussex Business Awards, and will be judged by Wealden District Cllr Roy Galley.
He said: “Wealden offers a high quality of life and much of the landscape is protected because of its outstanding natural beauty.
“Wealden District Council is developing a district wide approach to encouraging and promoting the green enterprise through sustainable business growth and sustainable development. Our objectives are to encourage, promote, assess and reward sustainable green enterprise initiatives. We are keen to encourage green entrepreneurs to champion our approach and support the highest standards of sustainability in creating growth. I am very much looking forward to judging this category.”
Companies across Wealden have until August 29 to prepare their applications.
