There is still time to enter the Lewes Cycle Challenge which runs from Monday May 26 to Sunday June 15.
Organisers have already signed up 19 organisations to take part in the contest.
This week they were promoting the challenge with a Dr Bike event at Sussex Downs College in Lewes.
Challenge organiser Louise Dunn said: “We have 19 organisations and over 80 already signed up and logging rides but obviously we want to encourage more Lewes businesses to take part.
“There are some great prizes for the winning teams in each category and spot prizes each week drawn at random from everyone who logs a ride.
“The Lewes District Fire and Rescue team are very keen and will be signing up their whole team.”
Challenge promoters offered a Dr Bike service so people could bring their bikes along for free minor repairs and maintenance on Tuesday May 13.
A Sustrans smoothie bike adapted to operate a blender when pedalling gave people the chance to make their own smoothie.
There were also bikes to try out, including an electric bike. A video of the event is available at www.sussexexpress.co.uk
Companies, organisations and individuals can join the Lewes Cycle Challenge.
During the three week challenge participants log their miles either as a team or as individuals.
Amongst the prizes they could win are cinema tickets, a bike, cakes and cycling equipment.
The aim is to encourage people to exercise and reduce congestion and pollution.
The Lewes Cycle Challenge is aimed at increasing the number of people who cycle regularly so you don’t have to be super fit to join in. Even just riding a bike for ten minutes is enough. To sign up visit http://www.lovetoride.net/lewes
