Slideshow: Newhaven as you’ve never seen it before in major photographic exhibition

Waiting for Video...

A highlight of Lewes Artwave this year will be a major photographic exhibition detailing buildings, people and industry in Newhaven.

The Photographers’ Eye features work by Carlotta Luke, Alexis Maryon and Kai Crick which will be exhibited large scale on buildings in the town.

Carlotta has been documenting the Marine Workshops on Railway Quay before they are converted into a University Technical College for 600 students.

Alexis Maryon uses black and white images to focus in on the people and places of Newhaven, while Kai Crick explores light and colour, challenging people’s assumptions of ruin and neglect by showing Newhaven’s industrial beauty in a new light.

A selection of Kai’s work is also on display at Newhaven Ferry Terminal.

You can meet the photographers to see and hear more about their work on September 5 from 6pm–8pm at the RNLI building on West Quay.

Entry is free with donations to the RNLI. However places are limited so pre-booking is essential on 01273 484351.

Elsewhere in Newhaven Artwave Festival favourite Victor’s House is taking part again and Paradise Park joins Artwave for the first time with a show of work by artist Martin Nee.

Box 2 is an amazing cliff top studio in Peacehaven, showing assemblage works, prints and collectibles.
