Brightly coloured flowers and beautiful crafts were on show in Polegate and Chiddingly last week at the town and village’s Spring Shows.
Spring shows were held by Chiddingly Horticultural Society and Polegate Gardeners Society at Chiddingly Village Hall and Polegate Community Centre.
In Polegate, David Shanks won the best exhibit in the handicrafts section after handmaking a beautiful tapestry.
Ten of the people who won trophies in Polegate included Ron Smith, Alan Winter, Barbara May, Daphne Rideout, Sue Cooke, Roger Blackwell, Rodney Reeve, David Shanks, Jenny Mordaunt and Pam Lister.
Organisers of the Chiddingly Horticultural Society’s Spring Show said it was a great success.
A spokeswoman for Chiddingly Horticultural Society said: “The spring flowers were exceptionally good and together with tables of mouth-watering cookery and some amazing decorated hats, made a lovely display to greet the many visitors.
“The Children’s entries were as usual a delight, and numbers were high, thanks to support from the Brownies, Rainbows and Guides.
“The ‘textured collage (pasta)’ entries were wonderful.
“Many former residents of the village came back to join in, and this gave the afternoon a party atmosphere.
“A very lively auction rounded off a really enjoyable day. Trophies were presented by Gill Bretten.”
