Uckfield cyclist injured in Newick collision

A white van driver failed to stop after a collision in which a cyclist came off her bike on a country lane near Newick.

The 33-year-old woman from Uckfield was cycling in Markstakes Lane, just south of Newick, on Friday (August 1) when the collision happened on Ridgelands Bridge at 5.20pm.

Police said she was thrown from her bike into the bridge wall, injuring her hand, thigh and knee.

She was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton for treatment to her injuries, which included a dislocated finger and deep bruising and soft tissue damage to her thigh and knee.

Police are appealing for the driver of the van, thought to be a white Ford Transit, to come forward or for anyone who may have been in area at the time who may have seen the van or cyclist to email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101 quoting serial 1127 of 01/08.
