The Uckfield Singers are staging a charity concert on Saturday, March 8.
The Uckfield Singers were established in 2007 and since then the choir has gone from strength to strength. Chair Sue Daniel said: “We now have 91 members. We are a not for profit charity-based choir raising thousands of pounds for local and national charities. Singing should be affordable to everyone so we charge just £2 a rehearsal to take part.”
She emphasises that the programmes contain a varied musical content of rock, pop, gospel, folk and show songs and if you would like to take part or just know more then contact Sue on: 01825 890464 to arrange a free trial evening. No auditions are necessary.
She says there are a few places for altos and male singers at present.
The Uckfield Singers’ next concert will be held on behalf of Heathfield and Waldron Rotary Club which is hoping to raise £1,000 for Macmillan Nurses. The concert starts at 7.30pm on Saturday March 8 and will be held at Heathfield Community College. Tickets can be bought from Premier Travel in Heathfield High Street or by ringing Frances Brett on: 01825 766922.
Sue went on: “We have a lot of fun events coming up for the choir: the London Gospel Choir are running a Saturday workshop for us; then we are off to sing in Normandy in May; we are taking part in the Uckfield Festival in July followed by our annual Showcase Concert on Sunday, July 27 at the Uckfield Civic Centre. We have also lined up two Christmas concerts with Uckfield Concert Brass on Saturday, December 20, and many events for 2015 including the Southbank Festival. “
