Children, parents and teachers celebrated the completion of their new school building with maypole dancing and a strawberry tea party on Tuesday (June 24).
Annan School in Easons Green, between Ringmer and Uckfield, is an independent primary school for children aged from three to 11.
The new building has just been completed and is now being decorated and furnished ready for the new school term in September. It will accommodate the junior age children (seven to 11 year olds), providing the school with new facilities.
The children entertained parents with a range of traditional dances with every child from kindergarten to upper juniors taking part. Homemade cakes and strawberries and cream were provided by the parents as part of the celebration.
Jeremy Stockwell, parent of two children at the school, said: “These new classrooms look amazing - very much in keeping with the ethos and aesthetic of the school. And having more space will, I’m sure, make learning and teaching even better.”
Mark Hunter, principal and co-founder of Annan School, said: “We’ve now got a fantastic building, with space for all the junior children under one roof. There are two classrooms, a shared technology room, individual learning areas, and cloakrooms. It looks great, too. Everybody has commented on the red cedarwood finish which fits in so well with the other buildings. We’re really proud of what we have achieved.”
