Emergency services were called to Birling Gap this morning (Wednesday March 5) after a woman became trapped on the beach by the high tide.
It is thought the woman walked to the area but got stuck when she was unable to use the Birling Gap steps which have been closed to the public.
The woman was rescued by Newhaven Lifeboats and taken to safety.
The steps have been closed since New Years Day because of the dangers posed by the unstable cliffs.
Following the recent rock falls Wealden District Council is urging people to stay away from the cliff tops.
The spokesman said: “Birling Gap Steps, access to the beach and viewing platform continue to remain closed to the public.
“The public should also stay away from unfenced cliff edges along the Seven Sisters.
“Recent frosts and months of heavy rain have made all cliffs edges unsafe, so please keep a safe distance.”
