The Uckfield Music Club celebrates its 70th concert season this year and has pushed the boat out to make the season memorable with a sequence of brilliant performers.
The concerts are given in the lovely setting of St Margaret’s Church, Buxted Park, and take place on Thursdays at 7.30pm.
On June 19 the club brings in gifted and engaging young pianist Lara Melda. Lara won the BBC Young Musician of the Year Award in 2010 when she was just 16. She will play Beethoven, Chopin, Poulenc, Liszt and Albeniz and end with the rhythm of dance music from Argentina in Alberto Ginastera’s Creole Dances and from Andalusia with Isaac Albeniz’s El Puerto.
On July 17, in association with the Uckfield Festival, there will be a spectacular concert with Red Priest, the dazzling baroque foursome of Piers Adams, recorder; Julia Bishop, violin; Angela East, cello; and David Wright, harpsichord. They will play their new programme ‘Handel in the Wind’ including Vivaldi, JS Bach, and CPE Bach.
