A27 at Lewes closed after concerns over man on bridge

The A27 around Lewes was closed this evening (Thursday September 13) after a man was spotted on a footbridge.

Sussex Police arrived at the scene and the road was closed in both directions between the Southerham Roundabout and Kingston Roundabout.

Police received a report at 5.15pm that a man had been seen on footbridge at Juggs Road and officers were in contact with him as there were concerns for his welfare.

However, he was brought down safely to ground level by East Sussex Fire and Rescue and was attended to by paramedics.

Because of the road closure there was queueing traffic on the A27 in both directions in Lewes between Kingston Roundabout and Southerham Roundabout.
