Police are investigating the attempted theft of a Land Rover Defender in Manchester Road, Ninfield, on Monday (January 12).
Between about 7.45pm and 7.50pm an attempt was made to drag the vehicle from a driveway where officers believe it would have been loaded onto another vehicle.
It is possible that a passing member of the public may have disturbed the thieves, who abandoned the Land Rover in the road and left.
The vehicle was undamaged.
Sergeant Chris Ruff said: “I would like to appeal for anyone who saw what happened to get in touch so that we can try to identify and arrest those who were involved.
“I would also urge owners of similar Land Rovers to review the security of their vehicles, especially if they own an older vehicle without an immobiliser or alarm.”
