As a result he was knocked to the floor and sustained a fractured kneecap and torn ligaments.

Police said it is thought that the driver may have been unaware that they had collided with the man.

Police are appealing for information on the driver of the van shown in the CCTV image to come forward and help them with their enquiries.

Officers are also keen to speak to anyone else who was in the area at the time and may have seen what happened.
