Miss Jones, who works at Morrisons in Hastings, said: “I was so happy I had been chosen as a cast member in the opening ceremony of London 2012. It feels amazing to be part of the show. And to have a chance to work with film director Danny Boyle, to perform to 80,000 people and the Queen, and the rest of the world - I will never forget it.”

Miss Jones has completed a BTEC in performing arts at Eastbourne college, and she is a former student at Hailsham Community College. She also works as an entertainer for a holiday park.

The dancer thanked all her family and friends for their support, adding: “It means so much.”

Lois, a student at South Downs College, will be dancing in the last section and she was really excited when the Sussex Express spoke to her.

“It will be so brilliant in there I will be energised by it all,” she said.
“I’ve met Danny Boyle at a couple of rehearsals. He’s lovely.”

Lois studies dance, drama and performing arts in Lewes and in October she is going on to study World Performance at East 15 Drama School, part of the University of Essex.
