A Hailsham mother who lost her daughter to cancer is selling off her hundreds of designer clothes and shoes to help raise money for charity.
Pat Storey, who lives in Hailsham, lost her daughter Karen Storey earlier this year. The 51-year-old, who lived in Chertsey but often visited her mum in Hailsham, died in February at St Wilfrid’s Hospice after a long battle with cancer.
Hundreds of designer clothes, in dress sizes eight to ten will go on sale in Devonshire Park Theatre hall on May 25 between 9.30am to 11.30am.
Karen, who made a career out of events management at a travel company which specialised in organising luxury holidays for millionaires, had a passion for beautiful designer clothes and before her death she went on a spending spree .
Her mother Patricia said, “She loved the finer things in life.
“She was a terrific fighter and up to the last month believed she would survive. She continued to buy beautiful haute couture items for when she recovered.
“She was never able to wear these beautiful shoes, handbags, dresses and evening wear and most of them are brand new with the original tags on them.”
Pat is now holding a sale at the Devonshire Park Theatre on May 25 between 9.30am and 11.30am. All the item, many Gucci, Prada and D&G, will be available at a reduced price.
A proportion of the takings made at the sale will go to the Devonshire Park Theatre repairs fund.
Pat added, “ She always gave to charities and I know that it would please her that the beautiful items she left would help good causes.”
The shoes are all a size five and the clothes are a dress size eight to ten.
Pat said, “This is also a unique opportunity for the fashion conscious ladies of Eastbourne to buy the exquisite items at a fraction of the retail price.
Pat explained that most of the shoes were bought new for around £250. However, Pat will be selling them off for around £70 a pair.
Many pairs have matching handbags.
Pat will also be selling off a wide range of belts and costume jewellery at the sale.
Pat will only be able to take cash payments at the sale as there is no facility to take credit of debit cards.
