Police are appealing for witnesses to a crash in Shortgate yesterday afternoon (Thursday, October 15) which left one man seriously injured and four others hurt.
The collision took place between a white Vauxhall Vivaro and a white Land Rover Discovery towing a trailer, on the B2192 The Broyle near its junction with Shortgate Lane, near Halland, at 2.51pm
The driver of the van, a 26-year-old man from Ashford, Kent, had to be freed from his vehicle by firefighters and was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, with serious injuries.
Four passengers in the van were also taken to the RSCH with injuries. The Discovery driver, 49, from Laughton, was unhurt.
The road was closed for more than three hours while emergency services dealt with the incident.
Three fire crews from Lewes and Uckfield and two officers were mobilised to the incident at 2.51pm and left the scene at 4.25pm.
Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with any information is asked to contact Sussex Police on 101 or email firstname.lastname@example.org quoting Operation Swanley.
