SUSSEX Downs College students from across the county had reason to jump for joy after receiving their A Level results. The College celebrated after another successful year.
Sherry Russell, Head of Lewes Sixth Form College, said: “Lewes students have yet again achieved excellent success in their Advanced Level courses. We have an overall pass rate of 98.5 per cent, with 76.7 per cent achieving the high A-C grades. Vocational students studying for NVQ and BTEC qualifications have also excelled.
“Our students enjoy outstanding teaching at Sussex Downs College in a supportive sixth form environment with good facilities and a friendly and purposeful working atmosphere.
“The impressive number of high grades will allow more students from Lewes than ever to be going on to their first choice university. Very well done to all our students who achieved their personal targets.”
Students converged on the college sites in Lewes and Eastbourne to receive their results. There were nearly 2,400 A Level entries this summer with students studying courses ranging from accounting to sociology, law to performing arts.
The College offers more than 60 A Level courses across its sites and also offers a variety of high quality vocational qualifications and apprenticeships.

Overall the college has a high student intake with 50 per cent of all 16-18 learners in East Sussex attending Sussex Downs College.
