REFLECTING its motto ‘Committed to the success of each student’, Chailey School pupils and staff were delighted with this year’s GCSE results.
An impressive 33 per cent of this year’s grades were A*/A and yet again 100 per cent of the year group achieved one or more A*-G grades. An impressive 78 per cent of students gained five or more A*-C grades with 99 per cent gaining A*-G in five or more subjects.
Headteacher Lesley Young said: “It is central to our ethos at Chailey that every student is guided, supported and challenged to achieve more than they ever thought possible.
“It is, therefore, very rewarding to see that all our young people have done well. There is much to celebrate for the class of 2012 – from those students who achieved all A* and A grades to those students who had many challenges to face and who saw their determination rewarded in their results.
“The depth and breadth of staff expertise is also worthy of recognition and acknowledgement, since nearly every subject achieved A*-C grades of 70 per cent or higher this year.”
She went on to say: “I should like to record my sincere thanks and appreciation to my colleagues, our governors and the parents of our Year 11 students who have worked tirelessly together – it’s been a real team effort.
“Our very best wishes go with our young people as they move on from Chailey into further education, training and employment.”
