A CHARITY auction organised by Access to Higher Education students’ from Sussex Downs College in Lewes raised £410 for the children’s charity Rockinghorse.
Patricia Carey, from the student organising committee, said: “We just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported us on the evening. It was great to see so many people willing to bid for items for such a good cause.”
Rockinghorse is a charity that supports sick children in Sussex and Surrey. The charity works with many children with life-threatening conditions, profound physical or learning disabilities. It works in partnership with respite centres and hospitals.
Analiese Doctrove, Community Fundraiser for Rockinghorse, said: “I just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone from the college that helped organise the charity auction. The event was a huge success and everyone was made to feel very welcome.”
The Access course provides people who missed out on a higher education, due to a variety of reasons, a second chance to realise their dreams. Those gaining an Access qualification are accepted by many universities in Britain for entry into higher education.
