Elderly woman injured in Seaford crash

Police say an elderly woman is '˜seriously ill' in hospital after a collision in Seaford last night (Monday).

The 81-year-old woman from Eastbourne was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton after she was involved in a collision with a car on the A259 Buckle by-pass.

Police are now seeking witnesses to the collision, which took place at around 6.30pm and involved a white Citroen DS3 car being driven by a 20-year-old man from Seaford. Police say the driver was uninjured.

The collision occurred near the by-pass’s junction with Beacon Road and led to the A259 being closed to traffic for around three hours while the incident was dealt with.
