Elvis and his band will take to the stage at Storrington First School on Friday, March 23 – well almost.
Horsham-based band, The Embers, have been approached by the Friends of Storrington School (FOSS) to help celebrate the schoo-s recent outstanding Ofsted result, and help raise funds for the school.
“When we were contacted by FOSS to celebrate the school’s achievement, we decided we would put together something rather special.” Andrew Gambling from The Embers explains. “Anthony, who fronts The Embers, has been performing solo as Almost Elvis for many years so we thought we would take this opportunity to transform The Embers into The Almost Elvis Band for the night.
“The six-piece band has readied songs from across the Elvis back catalogue for the evening, with a few surprises.
“While covering all the hits, the band thought people would also like to hear Elvis sing a few songs that he never got the chance to interpret.
“We start the evening in Vegas, but when we are back in black in the second half, there is a song that automatically comes to mind!
“It’s going to be great night out, and we encourage everyone in Storrington and beyond to dust off their blue suede shoes and come along.”
All the funds raised from the night go to Storrington First School, which has used previous events to fund laptops, outdoor play areas, and the schools very own outdoor swimming pool.
Garry Smart, headteacher explains “The school is tremendously grateful to everyone for their continued support, and the money raised over the years has really made a difference to every child at school”
Tickets are £2.50 and are available from Storrington First School reception and from Bo Belle in Storrington High Street in advance, as well as on the door on the night. There will be licensed bar, and an auction of promises in the break to suit all budgets. Doors open 7.45, start 8.15pm.
