ENGLISH Heritage is staging a workshop in Lewes on the theme of ‘The Historic Environment and The Big Society’.
It is designed to help local voluntary groups, trusts and societies have greater influence and support in looking after historic buildings and places.
The free workshop will take place at Lewes Town Hall on March 28 (5-8.30pm).
They offer a chance for local groups active in the South Downs National Park area to discuss issues that are important to them, recruit new members and share ideas about looking after our heritage.
This is particularly important with the rise of Localism and reductions in historic environment staff at local authorities.
Dr Andy Brown, English Heritage Planning Director for the South East, said: “We want to help people to protect better and enhance their local historic places. Local communities are the best and most effective advocates for our heritage.”
