Bus stop signs are to return in Southover High Street, Lewes, on Monday – after an absence of about 10 years.

They were taken down during traffic calming works and never reinstated.

Their return has been been welcomed by local councillor Ruth O’Keeffe, who said: “I have been asking for about a decade for them to be put back so passengers for the 123, 129 and 132 buses which stop there need no longer risk having the bus pass them by if a new or relief driver does not realise there is a stop there.

“It will also help raise the profile of the services, as people not familiar with the area have had no clue there is a bus stop there without them.”
