Fears have been expressed about the proposed demolition of a former care home in Lewes and its replacement with six houses.
Members of Lewes Town Council’s Planning and Conservation Committee felt the application as presented for the Fairholme site in Southover High Street was an overdevelopment.
And they expressed concern at the loss of social housing, although the background reasons given by the applicant, Sussex Housing and Care, were acknowledged.
Members also had some concern regarding the suitabilty of designs for the immediate area and lack of garden space, although it was commented that the market would ultimately decide the reasonability of the choice.
A decision is due from Lewes District Council on September 2.
