AN ENVIRONMENTAL improvement scheme in the village of Streat has been completed.
Southern Water has invested nearly £755,000 to upgrade Streat Wastewater Treatment Works, Streat Lane, to ensure the treated wastewater leaving the site is of the highest standard.
A new treatment plant has been built on site and sampling equipment installed which will continually check the flows meet stringent standards set by the Environment Agency.
Project Manager Julie Anne Stokes said: “This is an important scheme which will ensure the quality of wastewater recycled into the environment continues to meet strict standards.”
Construction, which started in March 2011, was carried out by contractor 4Delivery.
