FILM BUFFS have been invited to attend a one-off screening of the animated classic ‘FernGully: The Last Rain Forest’ at the Hailsham Pavilion, George Street at 10am on February 26.

The film morning is one of many fundraising events organised by Hailsham Town Council’s Hailsham In Bloom committee this year.

FernGully: The Last Rain Forest tells the story of magical inhabitants of a rainforest and their fight to save their home that is threatened by logging and a polluting force of destruction called Hexxus.

Town Cllr Jeff Bentley-Astor, the chairman of Hailsham In Bloom, said “Aimed squarely at children (although it won’t displease most parents), Ferngully: The Last Rainforest has a relatively subtle message, tackling the subject of respecting and protecting the environment. It also features some solid animation, a rather impressive cast of voice-actors and an intriguing adventure plot, making it all worthwhile.”

The film was the first ever to be shown on the floor of the United Nations, premiering on Earth Day in 1992.

Box office takings on the night will go towards the funding of future Hailsham In Bloom projects.

Tickets cost £6 (adults); £2 (children) and £4 (concessionary OAPs). To book your place(s), contact the Hailsham Pavilion box office on 01323 841414.
