Organisers of an upcoming walking festival are urging residents and visitors to shake off the post-summer blues and join in one of the many walks being planned.
The 1066 Walking Festival will be running in the first half of October with several walks on offer.
Kevin Boorman, manager of 1066 Country Marketing, said: “As the nights draw in the temptation is for people to want to stay in too. But we’ve got some fantastic walks here in 1066 Country, long, short, rural, urban, and some great health walks too.
“So a number of different organisations and community groups have come together to help organise our 1066 Walking Festival, which runs from Saturday, October 4 to Friday, October 10. There are nearly 50 walks, from just one mile up to 17 miles. On the first day of the festival on October 4 six different walks will be finishing in Battle during the late afternoon, so we’ve laid on some extra attractions, including the Battle Town Band, Mad Jack’s Morris from Hastings, and a hog roast from Noble’s Restaurant. There really are walks to suit everybody, including some great, short, health walks. All the details are on our website, www.visit1066country.com/walkingfestival.
