TWO people were arrested after a fight broke out yesterday (August 15) at Eastbourne Airbourne.

A 43-year-old man from Caterham and a 42-year-old woman from Eastbourne were arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. They remained in custody last night.

“Police are appealing for witnesses to a fight that happened on Eastbourne seafront just before the Red Arrows flew in for their display for the town’s Airbourne event on Saturday,” said spokesman.

“The fight broke out amongst a number of people on the Western Lawns between 4 and 4.30pm and it is believed it may have centred around one of the catering vans near the climbing wall. It is thought to have involved a number of men and women, one whom was holding a baby.”

He added there were thousands of people on the seafront at the time and reports suggested ‘a number of adults and children were visibly shaken and upset by the incident’.

Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident and believe that a number of people either videoed or photographed it.
