CHANGES to the original planning consent given to the Welbury Farm development off Hempstead Lane has met with objections by Hailsham’s town authority.

Developer Taylor Wimpey South East wants planning consent for ‘re-orientation of units 71-76 and 122-127, with four of the units including a garden room’ at the site. The developer was originally given permission for 460 homes at the location in 2008.

Hailsham Town Council believed there was not enough smaller dwellings for first time buyers in the amendment, saying in a response: “If the existing units are difficult to market, the council would suggest the price of the properties are reduced.”
