High winds fanned a fire on the Ashdown Forest on Bank Holiday Monday evening.
Almost 40 firefighters were called to battle the blaze which broke out in dry bracken, gorse and undergrowth east of Nutley.
The fire was first spotted just before 9pm.
Ten fire engines and four Land Rovers went to the scene and the fire was successfully extinguished by 11.20pm.
About 300 square metres (984 square feet) were affected.]
The cause of the fire was being investigated and the scene inspected again on Tuesday.
A spokesman for the Ashdown Forest Conservators said: “The fire was very small and no-one was injured.”
